Description: This project aims to understand how scientists communicate research and the impact of such communication on how the research is perceived. Our goal is to curate an inventory of social scientific articles that have been recently published in academic journals. The student will be charged with curating this inventory and gathering some information about each article and it’s authors. Through this work, the student will gain exposure to a variety of social science research articles and develop project management skills. Students interested in pursuing research in the social sciences, or those generally interested in doing research, will benefit from this experience.
Duties: The student will need to collect and read information from various online sources, and document information in an organized manner. We will meet weekly to review progress and set goals. Enrollment will entail a weekly commitment of 3 hours of work/credit.
Requirements: The ideal candidate would have taken at least one sociology course, will be comfortable with using AI to execute tasks, and be generally good at problem-solving. Enrollment in the CASR program is a plus.
To Apply: Please email your resume, unofficial transcript, and a short description about your interest in working on this project to Tamkinat Rauf at trauf@wisc.edu. There are up to two positions. Applications will be considered until the positions are filled.
