Graduate student Sarah Stefanos was recently selected to receive the University of Wisconsin-Madison Award for Mentoring Undergraduates in Research, Scholarly and Creative Activities. Sarah mentors students that she meets through classes or through her research in Africa on development and the environment. Sarah works with students from various backgrounds, from the United States and from Africa, and she is especially interested in helping first generation students. As the daughter of immigrant parents who were completely unfamiliar with the US educational system, Sarah understands how isolating and intimidating it can be to not know how to navigate a college campus with its unwritten rules.
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of UW-Madison students Sarah!
