Morgan Henson

Morgan L. Henson is a political, race, and cultural sociologist whose research investigates how far-right movements construct legitimacy, mobilize supporters, and adapt to different national contexts. His work examines the convergence of racial hierarchies, nationalism, and digital infrastructures across the United States, Germany, and Russia, using trilingual (English, German, Russian) digital ethnographies and qualitative methods to trace how extremist ideologies mutate across political systems. His dissertation, “Digital Shadows: Far-Right Adaptation in the U.S. and Germany,” reveals how movement-based organizations develop fundamentally different legitimation strategies shaped by their distinct legal and historical environments.

Beyond his research, Morgan is deeply committed to transformative teaching and inclusive pedagogy. With nearly a decade of experience across community colleges, research universities, K12 education, and alternative educational settings, he has taught a variety of courses including Intro to Sociology, Sociology of Race & Ethnicity, Social Problems. His teaching philosophy centers on bridging students lived experiences with sociological frameworks, creating classrooms where critical engagement and belonging go hand-in-hand.  Recognized with the 2022 Honored Instructor Award and 2026 inductions into the Edward A Bouchet Graduate Honor Society and the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society, Morgan is dedicated to mentoring and supporting all students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds.
