Biography
My research lies at the intersection of labor sociology, political sociology, and the sociology of economic change. I seek to contribute to two broad theoretical agendas: first, identifying workers’ power resources and understanding how they relate to the structural features of different industries; and second, examining the consequences of workers’ power for processes of economic and political change.
My published work examines the factors behind the rise in labor unrest in Brazil during the 2010s, combining regression analysis with qualitative fieldwork. It highlights how industry-level characteristics, such as the spatial dispersion of the workforce, shape the ways in which digital technologies affect workers’ capacity for collective action.
I am a Fulbright and CAPES Fellow.
