Labor; Economic Change and Development; Latin America
I am a Brazilian sociologist whose research lies at the intersection of labor sociology and the sociology of economic change and development. In my previous work, I examined the factors driving the rise in labor unrest in Brazil in the 2010s, especially among subcontracted service workers engaged in strikes against infractions of the labor law. I am currently interested in how workers’ movements and waves of state-led regulation and deregulation of employment have shaped corporate strategies in Brazil, with case studies in the country’s booming agro-industrial complex. My work combines regression analysis and qualitative fieldwork. I am a Fulbright and CAPES Fellow.
