Sara DeTienne has been a fundraising professional for the past 25 years in Madison, WI. Presently she is serving the University of Wisconsin Foundation as Senior Development Director for the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. She has developed meaningful relationships, matching individual philanthropic goals with the needs of the mission of the organization she has served. She relies on a higher purpose and allowing the power of philanthropy to accomplish the greater sum of all parts and assist patient care, education and research needs. She is a high achiever seeking great results and impact. She is passionate about helping individuals manifest their higher purpose through philanthropy.
She has a BS in Sociology from UW Madison, a three-time letterwinner in the sport of Women’s Rowing and a level three Reiki Master.
As a professional volunteer, she has served the community through her involvement with the Junior League of Madison since 1998 and leadership as President in 2006. In 2015, she served the Madison Rotary Foundation as their President which holds a $16M endowment and distributes $500K annually to local non-profits and 12 four-year college scholarships. She also served as board of director for the Madison Downtown Rotary. Additionally, she helped raise $9M for a second sheet of ice for their local hockey facility in 2022.
She resides in Verona, WI, a mother of two; Jack (19) at Xavier University and Ben (15), a wife, daughter, sister, and friend.
