Soc 320 Research Opportunity, Summer 2025: Transcription Assistant for Interviews About Flirtation
Term: Summer 2025 (Soc 320, Section 136) Status: OPEN Contact: Please contact Chloe Hart chloe.hart@wisc.edu to apply for this position. See details below. It is available for 1-2 credits. Description: How have large societal shifts like the #MeToo movement and the Covid-19 pandemic shifted Americans’ views toward appropriate sexual behavior? I take up these questions in an interview-based research project, by asking young Americans about how they believe romantic/sexual interest should be expressed. Duties: I use an imperfect transcription service to transcribe interviews. I am seeking an undergraduate assistant to listen to pre-recorded interviews and edit mistakes out of interview transcripts. Requirements: The research assistant should:
- Have a good command of spoken and written English.
- Feel comfortable listening to interviews that cover sexual content and possibly sexual violence.
- Have strong time management skills: able to reliably submit weekly tasks on top of other ongoing obligations.
