Katherine Jensen received a Vilas Associate’s Award

Katherine Jensen.Congratulations to Katherine Jensen, who has been selected to receive a Vilas Associate’s Award from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research! This award recognizes new and ongoing research of the highest quality and significance.

Katherine Jensen is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and International Studies whose research interests include race/racism, refugees and immigration, political sociology, and forced migration in the Americas, with a focus on Brazil and the Southern Cone. Her first book “The Color of Asylum: The Racial Politics of Safe Haven in Brazil” was published in 2023 at the University of Chicago Press and has won the International Political Sociology Section Book Award from the International Studies Association.
