Betty Thomson wins European Association for Population Studies Award

Professor Emerita Elizabeth “Betty” Thomson won the 2020 European Association for Population Studies (EAPS) Award for outstanding achievements in the field of population research.  The jury affirmed that “Thomson has made a major contribution both in her own research area, and also to the wider discipline.”

She is currently the Director of the Linnaeus Center for Social Policy and Family Dynamics at Stockholm University.  She has been at the Stockholm University Demography Unit (SUDA) for sixteen years, and she thanks UW-Madison for its part in her success.  Thomson was the Director of the Center for Demography and Ecology (CDE) from 1999-2004.
