On August 21, Greg Wilson, graduate student in the Department of Sociology, and Professor of Community and Environmental Sociology Randy Stoecker, gave a presentation on their research findings on Black-led nonprofits in Madison – organizations whose leadership is majority Black – to the Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development, as part of the Justified Anger Coalition. Wilson interviewed fifteen representatives of Black-led nonprofits to learn about their experiences in Madison’s nonprofit sector and found that Black-led nonprofits in Madison suffer a variety of forms of discrimination. The presentation can be viewed on the Justified Anger’s YouTube channel. Suggestions for how the Madison nonprofit sector should be restructured were discussed.
