Erik Olin Wright, Vilas Distinguished Research Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, passed away on January 23, 2019 at age 71. There will be a memorial for Wright and a celebration of his life and work on August 9th, 7.30-9.30p.m, in New York at the Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association. He was highly regarded for his scholarly study of class and inequality, and his prolific writing on alternatives to capitalism. An extraordinarily kind and generous person, Wright will be missed by many.
