Devah Pager, a professor of sociology and public policy at Harvard University and a UW Sociology alumnus (PhD 2002), died on November 2, 2018. Devah was a highly respected researcher who examined racial discrimination in the labor market and in the criminal justice system. As a graduate student, Devah volunteered with a housing program for homeless and jobless men. Their stories influenced her dissertation research, supervised by professors Robert Hauser and Erik Olin Wright.
